Dr. Jeffrey W. Frymire graduated from Anderson University and Anderson School of Theology with his B.S., MA, and M.Div. degrees. After spending 30+ years in pastoral ministry in the Church of God, Dr. Frymire earned his PhD. from Fuller Theological Seminary in Practical Theology with an emphasis in Homiletics.

He has taught at Fuller, Princeton, Asbury, and Anderson Seminaries. His scholarly pursuits are Narrative Preaching, Creativity, the Public Reading of Scripture, and Performance Theory in Preaching.

After 11 years of serving as Dean of the Chapel and Professor of Preaching at Asbury Seminary, Dr. Frymire announced his retirement at the end of August 2023.

Beginning January of 2024, Dr. Frymire was appointed the Director of the James Earl Massey Center for Compelling Preaching at Anderson University School of Theology and Christian Ministry funded by a $1.25 million dollar grant from the Lilly Foundation.

He and his wife, Rev. Joanie Frymire, have three children (Doug, Jonathan, and Joel) who are all in pastoral ministry in the Church of God. The Frymire’s have been married for 50 years.
